@markcgreer You probably want to listen to the man and switch the circuit breaker off. Once the light switch is off, if you are ever unsure whether it is off or not, there is no way to tell at that point. It is also impossible to tell if you are installing a brand new light fixture, in which case you would have no idea either way whether it is off or not. So, it is just to be cautious and guarantee you don’t electrocute yourself at the cost of a little extra effort.
